Teachers Celebration and Recognition Dinner

Four, $500.00 Awards will be presented with a plaque, one for each group;
Kindergarten- 4th Grades, Grade 5th - 8th, Grade 9th - 12th;
Certificates of recognition will be presented to a teacher nominee (Chosen by their peers) from each school.

Criteria for Nomination and Selection

To select prizewinners, the committee will follow these guidelines:

  1. Length of service, preferably 5 years or more, however it you feel a newer teacher exemplifies all other qualities, please nominate that person.
  2. The degree to which the teacher strives to maintain mastery of their subject matter.
  3. The degree to which the teacher demonstrates the importance of lifelong learning through their own intellectual growth, thereby modeling the role of what an educator should be.
  4. The extent to which the teacher has high expectations of students and communications those expectations effectively.
  5. The extent to which the teacher treats students as individuals, incorporating their, unique characteristics and personalities, communicating confidence in their ability to achieve, and recognizing their needs and aspirations.
  6. The teacher's success in motivating and engaging students through carefully planned lessons, and ability to analyze the student's progress, furthermore effectively communicates the results in a manner which encourages the students' further development and overall improvement.
  7. The teacher's success in creating a positive climate for learning through classroom management that is fair, firm and consistent, and through an appropriate regard for the importance of an attractive and pleasant physical environment, which is conductive for learning.
  8. The degree to which the teacher works cooperatively with fellow teachers, supervisors and administrators in continuing effort to improve the school system.
  9. The degree to which the teacher works cooperatively with parents demonstrating an understanding of the important role parents role in the development and ultimate success of each students in the educational process.
  10. The degree to which the teacher provides a positive role model for the students.
  11. The degree to which the teacher reflects the best characteristics of a teacher in Fitchburg.
  12. The degree to which the teacher is involved in extracurricular school and/or community activities. Providing a visual role model for others to emulate.

All nominations should be received no later than April 9, 2008.
